Jaco Roux Exhibition: My Limpopo 8- 29 October

Jaco Roux's work has been greeted with a wonderful response. The show sold 80% of the works before the exhibition doors opened. Art l lovers of all genres expressed appreciation for Jaco's powerful works. One art lover  said "I am generally not an expressionist or abstract fan but Jaco's work is incredibly pleasing."

New work: Albert Coertse, "Daltonica"

‘Daltonica’ is the Italian word for ‘colour bind’. Albert Coertse the master of spatial organization. Looping rhythms, diagonals, colours and balance.  In this painting,  he places two colors side by side, the contrast may enhance them, or they may be what is called the ‘spreading effect’, they spread into each other visually, and therefore change in the other direction. You can see this on closer inspection, the looping ‘n’ shape gradually getting smaller, working from the outer, to the inner quadrant of the painting. This is known as the mutual affect of color.

3 metre Andre Stead Sculpture erected, "Flight"

Flight is an anamorphic juxtaposition of two female figures, one standing in a contrapposto position, arms raised above her head and the other caught in an upward leap. Flight represents the moment of departure, the transition between standing still and flying. The piece contains both an active and a passive figure creating tension within the sculpture and adding to the feeling of  movement. Flight is all about moving beyond our own limitations and taking flight in a figurative way.
